Review: Alexei Sayle

Alexei Sayle’s return to stand-up ran the risk of… Oh. Er. What was it? “Diluting the legacy!” shouted his wife from the back of the cavernous packed-out Corn Exchange. Though this was certainly staged self-aware irony rather than forgetfulness. The “inventor of alternative comedy” was back on form with an impressively vitriolic set which acknowledged his place in showbiz, whilst railing against politics and finally drawing parallels between the personalities involved in both. It seems the audience has always loved his way of dropping a c-bomb. Legacy intact.
